Ye Ovation Away Day

We spend quite a lot of time thinking about ways we can improve all aspects of our business, including the service to clients. Yesterday we held the latest in a series of Project X meetings (working title), all about how we can change Ovation for the better.

We’ve been inspired by the way one of our clients in particular have transformed their company by including staff in all parts of the decision making. And so, ever the adventurers, we decided to give it a go ourselves.

Up until now we’ve held meetings at our lovely office on Queen Square. This time we felt a change of scenery may be in order. Enter Yeo Valley HQ. We were first impressed by the sheer character of the place, the way every wall seemed to scream “This is what we’re about.”

A Beatles mural on the wall of one meeting room, Graffiti on the toilet walls. Brimming with colour, playfulness and energy – these aren’t your average offices!

After a revealing and productive morning of discussion, focusing on a shared understanding of our core values and ethics, it was time for lunch. The staff canteen – which is actually a restaurant, open to the public – reminds us of nothing so much as what dreams might look like.

There are cloud-shaped cushions, ironically stuck to the ceiling. There is a model cow sitting outside, and (to paraphrase Mr. Wodehouse) not a small cow, either. One of the large economy size. Lunch was swiftly-served, healthy and delicious.

As the Ovation minibus trundled up-and-along the overcast Mendips, a thought prevailed. Among our (very) diverse team, there exists (perhaps just one) commonality: we all believe, wholeheartedly, in Ovation’s message of true Financial Planning to help our clients to become happier as well as wealthier.
