I started out as a self employed IFA in 1998 (incorporating as Ovation 1st January 2000) with a strong vision. At the time, financial advice was all about product sales and high up front commissions. I believed that financial advice should be more about planning and a long term relationship with clients. At the time, I was laughed at (quite literally) for these ideas. All these years later and Ovation delivers planning and advice in a way that makes me and our wonderful team very proud.

On a personal front, I play the guitar in a covers band (Love Potion No1) which regularly performs at charity balls and parties. My favourite guitar is an Ovation legend, which gave its name to the company.

I am married to Susie, an Oncology nurse, and we have been together since our early 20’s; we now have two children rapidly approaching their teenage years.

I made a major decision in 2010 that I would not work at Ovation on Wednesdays and instead I spent my time writing. One novel is published (see www.cbudd.co.uk) and I’m working on the next.
