I am originally from Hertfordshire, but in 2000 I disappeared off for a year sailing professionally and ended up doing it for 6 years. In 2006 I finally stopped sailing, moved to the West Country and got a “real job” in Financial Services.
I was fortunate to get a position working as a Business Development Manager for a life assurance company, which meant I managed a panel of financial advisory firms, assisting them with all aspects of their business. When I decided to move into an advisory role I was keen to join a business with good ethics and a moral compass.
I joined Ovation because they do “proper” financial planning. The client is at the heart of everything and so far it has been the best career decision I have made. Ovation are really forward thinking, the team are friendly, fantastic at their jobs and always open to new ideas, which makes my job so much easier.
When I am not at work I play the odd game of golf badly and have just started cycling in an attempt to keep the middle aged spread at bay. I’m also a big music fan, so tickets permitting I try and get to the Glastonbury festival as often as possible. I like to cook and eat out hence the cycling. Unfortunately I don’t get to spend very much time on the water anymore, but I have a retirement dream to buy a Cornish Crabber 26 and spend my latter years pottering around the Coast of France, eating cheese and drinking red wine.
