Bob Mills

Investment Manager

Prior to joining the Ovation team, I worked for 20 years in investment research for Natwest and Coutts Wealth Management.

My role as investment manager provides me with the opportunity to use my lengthy fund recommendations experience. During my career, I’ve seen many periods of volatility including the impact of cataclysmic events on financial markets. My experience has taught me to maintain a calm, disciplined approach by not reacting emotionally to either events or the constant market noise surrounding me. I also believe it is important to be decisive but only after gathering, then making sense of, the facts. This is an approach I am passionate about using when making fund selections for our clients where it is all too easy to become seduced by marketing and gloss.

Having met Chris and the team at Ovation, it was clear from the start that they were a clever, humorous and diverse mix of individuals and I felt we were a natural fit. Importantly their ethos centres on a genuine caring client service, which fully reflects my own beliefs of treating people as I would like to be treated myself. The team here really do believe that long-term relationships with clients that help them meet their financial goals are important.

Outside of the office, much of my time is spent becoming reacquainted with the piano, having originally abandoned it at the age of 15. I am currently working towards an LCM Performance Diploma. The exam comprises of a number of pieces to be performed in various genres from classical to contemporary. Although practice takes up a lot of my free time, it is also very satisfying as well as being good for the grey matter. Apart from this, I am attempting to learn to speak Italian, while I also enjoy watching rugby, painting and creative cooking, the latter with varying degrees of success!
